A first for Aboriginal organisational leadership in Australia
Executive Central, in partnership with Tranby Aboriginal College, announce a new program - Organisational Leadership Excellence for Aboriginal Leaders and Managers.
While Aboriginal leadership development is offered in a range of learning and development organisations across Australia, most focus on Aboriginal ‘community’ leadership. This exciting new Program offered by Tranby in partnership with Executive Central is the first of its kind.
Preliminary research undertaken by Executive Central and Tranby in the development of this Program suggests that Aboriginal managers are 5 times less likely to progress to senior manager roles. We also know that Aboriginal managers face a different range of issues than their non-Aboriginal colleagues.
Using the experience of Tranby and the leadership expertise of Executive Central, we are able to bring together Aboriginal people to focus on how they behave as leaders in organisations across all sectors.
Tranby has a long history of supporting and developing Aboriginal people since 1958. We are matching this with Executive Central’s significant experience working with leaders from all sectors and industries, and their experience working with Aboriginal leaders in both group settings and individually through leadership coaching and mentoring.
The Organisational Leadership Excellence for Aboriginal Leaders and Managers Program will have the following components:
- Individual needs analysis
- Group workshops which will include a senior Aboriginal leader talking to the group about their leadership journey
- 1:1 Executive coaching and mentoring
We are proud to be embarking on this exciting program. It will combine leadership theory and practical application in the participant’s workplace to make a real difference for Aboriginal people working in a broad range of organisations.
